Using Linked Consumer Registers to Estimate Residential moves in the United Kingdom

Abstract This paper argues that frequently updated data on the nature of residential moves and circumstances movers in United Kingdom are insufficient for many research purposes. Accordingly, we develop previous reported this Journal to re-purpose consumer administrative order annual estimates mobility between all UK neighbourhoods. We use a unique digital corpus linked individual household-level registers compiled by Consumer Data Research Centre, comprising over 143 million address records pertaining entire adult population period 1997–2016. describe how individuals vacating property can be assigned their most probable destination, based novel methods matching names, assessing household composition, using information date distance moves. believe results analysis contribute highly granular, used chart population-wide outcomes migration behaviour, as well socio-spatial characteristics sedentary population.
